I have lived in the Westshore of Victoria for over 50 years , I have been happily married to the same wonderful lady for 31 years and have two children. I enjoy everything to do with listening to and making music. I have been very interested in music and high quality sound systems since my early high school days.

I wish I could give them 10 stars! Tina and Mike and Next Gen online are fabulous. I was super nervous about my test and had no idea what to expect. But they were kind, courteous, helpful and understanding. They guided me through the entire process and the follow-up care is amazing. The hearing aids are priced competitively and they go all-out to make sure you are satisfied with everything. They respond quickly, answer questions honestly and work to your budget. I highly recommend them!

Our families world has recently been turned upside since the news our 3year old had lost all the hearing in his left ear and would likely loose what remains in his right. While trying to navigate the challenges that come with this diagnosis we needed to find a way to help our little guy learn to wear hearing aids and keep them on. This meant perhaps getting his favourite teddy bear to wear one as well as mom and dad. We called NexGen to get some ideas. Tina at NexGen was fantastic! She came up with an idea immediately and within 24 hours I was able to get some great teaching tools. The customer service at NexGen is amazing. You can't go wrong in dealing with a company that has this much heart. We are so grateful for their help and kindness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most people will naturally start to lose their hearing around the age of 65. Certain factors can cause people to being to lose their hearing sooner or later in life, such as:
  • Smoking (studies show that smokers experience more hearing loss than non-smokers)
  • Genetics
  • Medical Conditions
  • Medications
  • Sickness
  • Repeated Exposure to Loud Noises
It is always a good idea to get your hearing tested regularly to make sure your hearing health is in good order, and this is especially the case as you get older and closer to 65 years of age. Contact us today to schedule a free hearing test at our clinic!

A hearing aid will drastically improve the quality of your hearing. However, it cannot restore the natural function of your ear. If you require a hearing aid to improve your hearing, then you will need to rely on it to maintain your hearing.

There are quite a few things you can do to get the most out of your hearing aid battery such as:
  • Store batteries at normal room temperature.
  • Wash your hands before changing batteries to keep oil and dirt from causing damage to the battery or clogging up the air pores.
  • Leave the battery compartment in your hearing aid open at night to let moisture escape.
  • Use a hearing aid storage container or dehumidifier.
  • Check the expiration date on the package before you purchase new batteries. Try and purchase batteries with an expiry date that is a year in the future or further.
  • Do not remove the protective seal on the battery until you’re ready to use it. Once the seal is removed, the battery begins to lose charge.
Use rechargeable batteries. Our clinic staff would be happy to help you find a rechargeable option for your device.

A no-obligation hearing screening is free at any one of our clinics. This assessment includes the 3-point series of tests that includes measuring air conduction, word discrimination, and checking the eardrum and middle ear system. More comprehensive exams that require reporting such as physician reports, employment requirements or children’s hearing test are exempt from the free hearing test offer, check with your local clinic for rates.

Generally speaking, a hearing aid will last anywhere from three to seven years. There are a few factors which can impact the lifespan of a hearing aid including:
  • The quality of the hearing instrument
  • How well it is cleaned and maintained
  • How much wear and tear it experiences from being worn everyday
If you’ve had a hearing aid for a few years and notice it isn’t working as well as it was, contact our clinic and let us help you determine whether your hearing aid needs a tune up, or if it’s time for a replacement.
